Berlin’s Toxic Pest Predicament: Immediate Action Required

(SeaPRwire) –   By: Jonathan Vance
Toxic oak processionary moth caterpillars are overrunning Berlin. They trigger rashes and breathing problems. Infestation spreads, closing parks and areas.
Caterpillars emerge May to July. Their tiny toxic hairs travel 200 meters. This summer, districts see sharp rise in infested trees.
Authorities face hurdles. Caterpillars are allergens, not public pests. Biocide use is restricted by plant rules. Politicians slam poor coordination.
Residents launched a petition. Over 4,500 signed for Jungfernheide. Demand better oak tree treatment and nest removal.
Last year, 5,032 oak trees were infested. Drier weather will worsen the outbreak. Pest is in Europe, UK too.
